As part of the1955 modernisation plan British Railways built a series of mineral wagons with clasp vacuum brakes. To distinguish them from the un-fitted grey mineral wagons these were painted into a bauxite colour, as depicted on our new model. Latterly, once the "TOPS" computer system was brought in during the 1970s these wagons were coded MCV, and it is for this period that our model represents.

As with others in the series, the model features very fine moulding and printing detail, free-running metal-tyred disc wheels and removable coupling.
