EFE Rail E87120 BR YCV 'Turbot' Bogie Ballast Wagon BR Engineers Grey & Yellow - OO Gauge
The ‘Turbot’ Bogie Ballast Wagon makes its debut in the EFE Rail range carrying the characteristic grey and yellow ‘Dutch’ livery used by BR Engineers. Converted from Bogie Bolster Es in the 1980s, the Turbots had low sided bodies made up of three drop-side doors on each side. and angled plates on each end to prevent spillage onto the drawgear. Classified as YCVs under TOPS, the ‘Turbots’ became synonymous with engineer’s trains making our EFE Rail model an essential item for period modellers. Combining a finely moulded bodyshell with a fully detailed chassis, the model runs on a pair of high-fidelity bogies that are fitted with metal wheelsets and NEM coupling pockets are mounted at either end.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood
Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
