76BLP007 - Oxford Diecast - BL Princess Carmine
The British Leyland Princess was launched in 1975 as a luxury 4-door saloon designed by BL’s Harris Mann. It came with the option of either a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic gearbox and its characteristic wedge shaped front was quite an innovation for its time. It was particularly popular as a high-end vehicle for transporting civic and public dignitaries of the day. It also sported a vinyl roof, faithfully replicated on our 1:76 scale model.
For its latest Oxford appearance, it comes decorated in a rich carmine red with black ‘vinyl’ roof and black/silver exterior trim. Note particularly the black front grille with silver detail. The interior seating, dashboard and steering wheel are moulded in light brown. The BL Princess ceased production in 1981 and our model is from that year, registered TOR 393T.
