By 1898, they were already being replaced by bigger locomotives and 23 of the class were withdrawn over the next seven years. Most were sold for further work, including two to the London \u0026amp; South Western Railway for working the Lyme Regis branch. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNo. 735 started life as No. 68 Clapham, moving to the L\u0026amp;SWR in March 1903, but wasn’t a success in Dorset and was soon moved away for other duties. Reboilered in 1911, it was fitted with motor-train gear for use on the three-mile Leigh-on-Solent branch in Hampshire.
