Harburn Hobbies, a family run business established in Leith in the 1930s has become Scotland's leading model retailer, now located on 67 Elm Row (part of Leith Walk) north east of Edinburgh city centre, a 10 minute walk from Princes Street / Waverley Station. The shop is open from 10am till 5pm, Monday to Saturday (and on pre-Christmas Sundays) but, of course, you can visit our online shop anytime to view a small selection of our vast stocks. Specialising in British '00' and 'N' scale model railways (Hornby, Bachmann, Graham Farish, etc.), we have a comprehensive range of locomotives, rolling stock and accessories and most of the things needed for building and decorating a layout. In recent years, Harburn Hobbies has commissioned Scottish themed railway models from various manufacturers (see categories 'Exclusive to Harburns'). "Harburn Hamlet" is our own range of accessories suitable for '00'/ 'H0' & 'N' gauges. This popular and ever expanding collection of ready made, ready coloured, ready-to-use scenic items covers:- 'Freight & Lineside', 'Country & Garden', 'Station & Street', 'Quayside' and N Gauge Collection (also sold through UK model railway shops - all trade enquiries to the Pritchard Patent Product Company). All these products are made from a mixture of synthetic resin/stonecast material for realism and strength - colours and finishes may vary from those illustrated. Other products include:- Scalextric slot car racing system, plastic construction kits (Airfix, Revell & Tamiya), bus & railway books and DVDs, Dolls House furniture and fittings in 1:12 scale and raw materials for constructors and architects (wood, plastic, paints, glues, etc.) We are also a major stockist of die-cast model vehicles - Corgi, Vanguards, EFE, Oxford, Maisto, Bburago, etc. Corgi produce cars, buses, vans, trucks, aircraft, military, railway subjects and TV & Film favourites (eg. James Bond Collection). Currently produced models from most ranges and earlier releases may be available, please enquire! Vanguards focus on 1:43 scale classic British cars and vans of the 1950s - 70s whilst EFE manufacture 1:76 scale buses from the 50's to the present. 1:18 scale cars by numerous manufacturers are also stocked. A world-wide mail order service is available with normally a 7 working day turnaround. Please note:- we do not stock radio control items. |
